After purchasing an old house in a Carpathian Mountains village, I stumbled upon an analog film left behind by the previous owners. Upon digitizing it, I discovered a wedding day documentation of unknown individuals from the early 2000s. The images captured moments from morning food preparation to the lively scenes of a night party, spanning 36 camera shots. Intrigued by this unexpected find, I decided to create a short video in the style of 2000s wedding videos crafted from photos.
The artwork employs the glitch technique to bring attention to the concepts of authorship and the private lives depicted in the photos. Due to not knowing the original author and being unable to seek their permission, the glitching process allows for the transformation of the photos. By glitching the images, I can use them to create a new artwork, essentially becoming the new author. This approach addresses the challenge of utilizing the photos while respecting the privacy and rights of the individuals captured.
