The artwork reflects an old-fashioned way of decorating interiors, where people in Ukraine used to stick big nature photos on their walls. In the 90s, because of financial struggles after the collapse of the USSR, people couldn’t easily go on vacations to places like the Maldives, Alps, or Niagara Falls to see those beautiful landscapes. So, they stuck pictures of these places on their walls. As a child, those images looked kind of fake to me.

When the photos from the project were taken, travel wasn’t a problem anymore. But whenever I saw such nicely landscaped nature, my mind went back to the times when I only saw them on the wall.

Now, a new issue has come up. If, say, 30-40 years ago, people couldn’t travel as much as they can now, nature wasn’t in as much trouble as it is today.

Destroyed images remind us that it’s time to stop harming nature. We usually take nature for granted in our everyday life. While we can currently go outside and enjoy nature, what will happen after 10 years? Maybe in 10 years, we’ll only be able to print pictures of nature and stick them on the walls again.

All the photos were taken with the landscape mode on my mobile camera. I turned the screen to create this effect.
